Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 June 2026

These terms apply when you use Race Hopper. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. We've tried to keep this plain and short — if anything is unclear, get in touch.

1. Who we are

Race Hopper is operated by Claire Viljoen, based in South Africa. In these terms, “Race Hopper”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to that business. “You” refers to anyone using the site, whether you've created an account or not.

2. What Race Hopper does

Race Hopper is a discovery platform for South African endurance events. We aggregate information about races — dates, locations, distances, entry pages — so you can find them in one place. We are not the organisers of any of the events listed on the site. Race day logistics, entries, refunds, and any race-day issues are between you and the organiser of that event. Always confirm details with the organiser's official website before entering an event.

3. Your account

You can browse Race Hopper without an account. To save events, log races, or connect Strava you need to create one. You're responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for anything done from your account. Let us know straight away if you think someone else has access to it. You must be at least 16 to create an account, and the information you provide must be accurate.

4. Event submissions

If you submit an event through our submit form, you confirm that you have the right to share that information and that the details are accurate. We review submissions before they go live and may decline or edit any submission at our discretion — usually for clarity, formatting, or because we can't verify the event. We may also remove events later if circumstances change.

5. Race Hopper Promote

Event organisers and brands can purchase paid promotion packages via Race Hopper Promote. Payment is handled by Yoco. Once a purchase completes we'll coordinate the campaign with you by email. Promote bookings are non-refundable once your campaign has started; before that, contact us and we'll work something out in good faith. The package details, durations, and inclusions you see on the Promote page at the time of purchase are what we'll deliver.

6. How you may use the site

Use Race Hopper for its intended purpose: discovering and tracking endurance events. You may not scrape large amounts of data automatically, attempt to break or interfere with the site, abuse other users, upload anything illegal or harmful, or try to circumvent any security controls. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of anything you submit (events, race log entries, profile details). By submitting it, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display, store and share it as part of running Race Hopper. We won't sell your content to third parties.

8. Third-party links and entries

Race Hopper links to organiser websites, entry portals, and Instagram pages. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or anything that happens when you visit them.

9. No warranties

Race Hopper is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep event information accurate and the site available, but we can't guarantee either. Always confirm critical details (dates, prices, distances, entry deadlines) on the organiser's own site before you enter an event or travel to it.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by South African law, Race Hopper isn't liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from your use of the site — including (but not limited to) missed races, incorrect event details, or problems at events run by third parties. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that can't be waived by law.

11. Ending your account

You can close your account at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms. Closing your account deletes your personal data — see the Privacy Policy for details on what's retained and for how long.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. If the changes are significant, we'll also email you. Continuing to use Race Hopper after changes go live means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts.
